Lips, Lashes & Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

Lips, eyes, lashes and brows. We often spend hours perfecting our makeup routine to enhance our features, but what happens if you don’t have the time or skills to achieve the look you desire? Cosmetic tattooing has become increasingly popular as a solution to this problem, as it can provide a long-lasting, natural-looking finish.

However, with this rise in popularity comes an increase in requests for colour correction or tattoo removal. Fortunately, cosmetic tattoo pigments are now designed to be semi-permanent making removal and correction easier than ever before.

With non-laser, saline removal, you can fade and remove your unwanted cosmetic tattoo with little risk of hyperpigmentation and scarring.

What is Tattoo Removal?

In order for your eyebrows, lips or eyes to closely resemble their pre-tattooed state, cosmetic tattoo removal is required. The majority of clients looking to have eyebrow tattoo removal are often those who have the older “block” style tattoos, those with overly saturated colours, the wrong shape, size, length or those with colours turning into blue, green, pink or red shades.

There are two common methods to remove cosmetic tattoos. This includes a laser or a non-laser technique. At Signature Brows & Beauty, we deliver a non-invasive, non-laser approach to removing botched eyebrow tattoos, which delivers immediate results that laser methods do not often achieve.

This procedure delivers immediate results, with minimal to no pain, and is more affordable than the traditional laser removal method!

How Does Eyebrow Tattoo Removal Work?

For those who are not familiar with this treatment, non-laser removal is the process of lightening or removing a tattoo utilising a saline solution that is injected into the skin. This process works by breaking down the tattoo pigment into smaller particles which can then be excreted by the body.

Saline tattoo removal uses similar equipment to those that is commonly used when introducing ink to the skin during a cosmetic tattoo. However, a saline solution is used in place of ink.

By Introducing a high concentration of saltwater into the dermis where the pigment the process of Osmosis is promoted. As water in the cells beneath the pigment contains lower amounts of salt, this water will rise to the area containing higher concentrations of salt, forcing the pigment from the dermal layer up to the epidermis (outer layer of skin).

From here, the pigment becomes trapped in the scab and is expelled when the scab falls off and the tattoo becomes lighter as the colours fade away over time.

What to Expect After My Treatment?

Saline tattoo removal is a safe, gentle, and chemical-free alternative to laser removal. Unlike laser tattoo removal, there is no risk of burns, blisters or scarring. After having your cosmetic tattoo removed, you may experience some swelling and redness. This is completely normal and will subside within a few hours.

Most tattoos will appear significantly lighter after one treatment, but it for the best results it is recommended that clients return for 1-2 more sessions. This technique can take several sessions depending on the ink used, depth implanted in the client’s skin and the healing process. In more severe cases, up to 5 removal sessions may be required.

Typically, there is a wait time of between 6-8 weeks between each removal session – this allows the client’s skin to heal and regenerate before further treatments can be delivered.

If you are removing an old tattoo in order to make space for a new one, it is important that you allow your skin to fully heal before having any type of tattoo re-introduced. Depending on the depth of your previous tattoo, it can take up to 3 months for the skin to completely regenerate.

Is Saline Removal Right For Me?

In some cases, a tattoo may be too dark or too deep for this treatment to be effective. In these instances, another type of removal method will need to be recommended by your technician.

While it is not Signature Brows and Beauty does not offer laser removal, this is the preferred treatment for tattoos that are too large or too deep. While saline solution is ideal for all skin types, there are a number of factors to consider to ensure your skin can tolerate this type of treatment.
