Top 5 myths about Cosmetic Tattooing

cosmetic tatto after shot kat - Top 5 myths about Cosmetic Tattooing

Myth 1: ITS PERMANENT

Cosmetic Tattooing is NOT permanent. The pigments that are used are different to regular body tattooing inks. They are designed to be semi-permanent and fade out within 2-3 years. Styles & hair colour constantly change and we may not like the same eyebrows in 3 years time as we do now. It is recommended to get a colour refresh every 12-18months to keep your colour crisp. Everyone Is different as to how long the tattoo may last, factors include – skin type, lifestyle, medical history, colour & technique

Myth 2: YOU HAVE TO SHAVE YOUR EYEBROWS

HAHA! No this is definitely NOT true. Your eyebrows are not shaved off before getting them cosmetically tattooed. We actually use your natural brows as a template, we like to keep as much of your own brow hair as possible to refrain from you constantly needing to pluck out the ones that don’t sit inside your new shape. When tattooing, the machine or microblade runs throughout your hair tattooing the skin underneath.

Myth 3: Its SO painful

Everyone has a different pain thresh hold, but it really isn’t too painful at all. Most clients are super nervous when they come in about the pain of the tattoo but once I start the treatment they are quite surprised at how comfortable it is. At the very start you may feel a slight scratchy sensation but once the anaesthetic has settled in you don’t feel much. Toward the end of the session you may find that the area a little tender when wiping over the skin and this sensation can last for the first few days.

Myth 4. THEY WONT LOOK NATURAL

This depends on the technique you get but these days tattooed eyebrows definitely shouldn’t look like the old school block brows from years ago. There are many different techniques you can request to keep your brows looking natural. A digital machine or handtool is used to either mimic natural brow hairs (feather technique) or give you a soft powder finish (ombre/powder technique). Your brows will look darker and more defined for the first week but as your brows start to heal the colour will fade and soften into to your skin. Once fully healed they should look super natural. Some of the younger generation that wear makeup daily like a more defined look and request for a bolder eyebrow.

Myth 5. I CANT GO TO WORK FOLLOWING MY TATTOO

You sure can, you can go out that night too. You will only have a slight redness around the tattoo but that is it. You can apply a little make up around the area (staying off the eyebrows). The redness only lasts a few hours. Minor swelling (nothing you can notice), no bruising. Your Brows will go through a healing process and may feel a little itchy and flaky on day 4/5.
